Capacity to Form Parts for Construction Equipment
Chicago Metal has the capacity to put a curve in virtually every structural steel shape as well as in sheet metal and plate. The possibilities are literally endless.
Construction Equipment: Value-Added Services
One of the most valued services Chicago Metal provides to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) including construction equipment manufacturers is our absolute willingness to consult with them to find the optimal solution to their needs. We also welcome the opportunity to provide samples often free of charge. Many times we have shared "go/no go" gauges with OEMs to ensure quality.
In addition to such consultation on curved steel bending, the company is happy to do discuss and perform secondary operations such as welding, punching, drilling, and assembly.
Construction Equipment: Applications for Curved Steel
As mentioned above, the possibilities are endless. Chicago Metal Rolled Products makes cylinders to cover springs on Caterpillar equipment. The covers serve as protection should the springs break. Roll over protection (ROPS) commonly uses curved tubing or pipe for the protection of heavy equipment operators. Curved 5 x 2 x ¼ tubes serve as the arms for front-end loaders. Heavy angle rings form a race for bearings that allow a back hoe to swivel. Sewer cleaner trucks use large angle rings for the access door on the back of the tank which rests on curved channel segments.
