Light to Heavy Plate Rolling for All Applications
We have the capabilities to accurately roll steel and aluminum plate into full cylinders, cylinder segments, full cones, and cone segments. Sheet or plate rolled into tubular shapes can be used for conveyor pipes, downspouts, and numerous other applications.
We can produce both concentric and eccentric cones. We create cones from light gauge pipe for ventilation systems, via heavy plate rolling for metal duct work in steel mills, and everything in between. Plate rolling can also be used to form helical shapes for circular stair stringers.
Few, if any, other heavy plate rolling companies in the Midwest can match CMRP’s capacity. We can roll and ship steel plate up to 30’ long and weighing as much as 40 tons. We can roll a few pieces in a day, and a full truckload in a week or less.
We work with a wide range of materials in our sheet metal and heavy plate rolling services. We can roll plate in most metal materials and grades. For sheet metal, we can roll aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized steel, mild steel, painted, and polished materials.

Plate Rolling Capacities
The narrower the width of the plate entering the machine, the thicker the plate that can be rolled. For example, CMRP can roll a 2" thick, 12' wide steel plate, or we can roll a 12" thick, 3' wide steel plate. We can also roll thick material to very tight diameters—for example, 2" thick, 10" wide material can be rolled to a 19" diameter.
The type and grade of the material determines both the largest dimensions that can be rolled and the minimum radii that can be rolled. For harder materials, maximum heavy plate rolling dimensions become smaller and minimum radii become larger.
Value-Added Services for Sheet Rolling
- CMRP can roll perforated metal sheets or sheets with special cutouts. We can attach structural steel stiffeners made of angle, channel, beam, bar, tees, or tubing.
- As needed, we can roll metal sheet into cylinders, weld or lock-seam them, and install angle rings with Van Stone flanges. This process makes the installation in the field easy.
- We provide custom-rolled pipe in 10’ long sections, saving you time and money in installation versus other plate rolling companies’ 4’ pipe lengths.
- We can brace steel sections to hold their radius during shipment (a process called “spidering”) or create custom carriers to otherwise facilitate shipment.

While there are countless applications for rolled plate and rolled sheet metal, we encounter certain applications more than others. Our heavy plate rolling services are most often used to create components for metal duct work, circular tank walls, machine housings, piping, stacks, molds, and bridges, with both hot and cold bending services available to satisfy Department of Transportation requirements.
