Curved Steel for Air Handling Systems
Chicago Metal Rolled Products supplies component parts for air handling systems. These systems condition and circulate air. The components of these systems include an air handling unit (AHU), filters, heating and/or cooling elements, humidifiers, a mixing chamber, a blower or fan, a heat recovery device, controls, and vibration isolators. All together they constitute a heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC).
A ventilation system using ductwork commonly distributes the conditioned air to a facility and then returns it to the air handling unit.

Capacity to Form Parts for Air Handling Systems
Chicago Metal Rolled Products makes parts not only for the air handling unit but also for the ductwork in the ventilation system. The company performs angle rolling to produce high quality rings for the AHU. For example the company can cut down one leg of a 1-3/4 x 1-3/4 x ¼ angle to 1-3/4 x 1 x ¼, roll the angle into a ring 28in inside diameter, weld the ends of the ring together and maintain a +/-1/32 tolerance on the inside diameter and a 1/32 tolerance on the ring's flatness. Chicago Metal has produced thousands of these rings with high quality.
The company also supplies straight seam pipe, either welded or lock seamed, as ductwork. Its rolled angle rings are often used to connect the pipe to the AHU and to connect 10ft lengths of pipe end-to-end.
Air Handling Systems: Value-Added Services
A valued service that Chicago Metal provides is speed of delivery. Plant shutdowns create the need for an urgent response, and Chicago Metal provides the needed parts sometimes within hours of receiving an order. Angle rings can be provided with or without bolt holes. Sheet metal pipe can be sent with angle rings attached with a Van Stone flange or simply welded on the ends.
Air Handling Systems: Applications for Curved Steel
Curved steel can be found in almost all the components of air handling systems. Over decades, Chicago Metal has provided thousands of rings for a large OEM who makes chillers. Angle rings and bar rings are often used as stiffeners on fan housings.
