Metal Bending for Agricultural Equipment

Since 1908, Chicago Metal has produced parts for agricultural equipment. Although widely known for its metal bending for the construction industry, our metal bending company has always had a significant roll in producing component parts for OEMs (original equipment manufacturers).

For decades the company manufactured straight-seam, lock-seam irrigation pipe. Railroad cars were loaded with the product on a siding that ended in the factory. (PVC pipe eliminated that application.) Chicago Metal developed a line of standard angle flanges to connect pipe which often conveyed grain and other agricultural produce.

Chicago Metal Rolled Products has been fabricating rolled plate cylinders and rolled sheet cylinders for agricultural tanks since 1908. Today the company forms and fabricates tanks using new, specialized, state-of-the-art equipment

Chicago Metal Rolled Products uses its sheet rolls, plate rolls, section benders, mandrel benders and other curving and bending equipment-virtually every machine in the company-to make a wide variety of component parts for agricultural equipment. Indeed, the strength of the company is its ability to provide parts with the value required by today's customers.

In addition to its incomparable ability to curve steel, Chicago Metal can drill, punch, weld, crimp, machine, blast, paint, and assemble component parts for agricultural equipment.

Ag Equipment: Applications for Curved Steel

Curved steel tubes help form a large cylinder in a combine that harvests peas. 4 x 2 tubes are curved for the arms of a front-end loader. Welded and lock seamed pipe with angle rings helps transport grain products. Curved tank walls and stiffeners hold farm produce. Chicago Metal supplies directly or indirectly parts for Case New Holland, for Deere, for Caterpillar, and many other smaller manufacturers.
