Steel Tube Bending for Bike Racks and Sustainability

Steel tube bending is contributing to the green initiatives of the Village of Oak Park, Illinois.  The village is reviewing each street as more than primarily an avenue for automobiles.  How does a street accommodate pedestrians, users of public transportation, disabled individuals, and those on bicycles?

One answer to promote biking was to install more than 60 attractive, low maintenance, long-lasting stainless steel bike racks. The racks are made of 1.5 OD x 0.125 wall 304 stainless steel tube rolled to a 24” center-line diameter. The legs are 21 inches long to accommodate a special heated bluestone sidewalk. With this new sidewalk, new bike racks, new lamp posts, and new brick pavers, Marion Street is a welcoming destination especially for those who value sustainability.
