We provide structural steel bending services of all the structural steel sections for both construction and for OEMs. When it comes to structural beam bending, we are the biggest in the country with the world’s largest beam bender. In the area of structural beam bending, we can bend up to W44x290 beams the hard way (x-x axis).

In the construction industry, we are founding members of the American Institute of Steel Construction Bender/Roller Committee. We are also members of National Ornamental & Miscellaneous Metals Assoc. (NOMMA) and the Stairway Manufacturers Association (SMA.) In addition to promoting steel generally as the material of choice for construction, we promote a subset of that fabricated steel, namely structural steel bending. With OEMs, we are members of the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association (FMA), and the American Welding Society (AWS).

Structural Steel Bending Capacities

Chicago Metal Rolled Products has the greatest capacity and most experience in structural steel bending for construction. Our collection of heavy bending equipment is unmatched in the country. Not only can we bend the heaviest sections, we can also bend the steel in more ways than most other companies. We can bend all members off-axis, helically, in two planes (compound bends), and with multiple radii. At the other end of the spectrum, we can bend the smallest sections to tight radii: angles as small as ½ x ½ x 1/8 to a 3-1/2 inch diameter. And we bend all the structural steel sections in between the largest and the smallest. OEMs use the full range of our structural steel bending capabilities. No other company in the US has the range for bending structural steel that we do. And no other company in North America has the sheer capacity to bend as many tons as we do.

Structural Steel Bending Value-Added Services

Our core competency is not just limited to rolled structural steel. We often provide secondary services like welding, grinding, punching, drilling, and saw cutting. We will fabricate and weld end plates with punched holes to horse-shoe shaped beams for tunnel supports, for example. Or we will roll an angle ring, weld it, and then punch holes in it to be used for a fan housing.

Structural Steel Bending Applications

Construction applications include arches, roof supports, parts for trusses, canopies, and lintels. OEM applications include flanges, brackets, housings, and tank supports. The more you look for these bent members, the more you will see them in architecture and in equipment.
