Tube bending basically comes in three shapes: round, square and rectangular. All these shapes can be bent into a circular form, bent with straight tangents or even bent into an “S” shape. Chicago Metal can also split round tubing and bend the half tube to a prescribed radius. Various grades of tubing provide different mechanical and chemical properties. You should consult with your steel suppliers as well as with us to determine the best material for your tube bending application.

Round tube bending

We can bend from 3/8” diameter to 24” diameter round tubing using dozens of machines and hundreds of die sets to bend tubing to the tightest radii with minimum or no distortion.

Square tube bending

We can bend up to 16” square tube. An example of a difficult bend that we can do is bending 8 x 8 x 1/4 to a 12 ft. inside radius with no distortion. We can also bend square tube off-axis, for example a 12” x 5/8” tube bent 45 degrees off-axis to a 50 foot radius.

Rectangular tube bending

We can bend rectangular tubing the easy way up to 20” x 12” x ½ .” As is noted on the Standard Mill Shapes page, we can bend all sections on-axis or off-axis: hard way, easy way and every way in between (copyright CMRP). See our gallery for an example of rectangular tube bent off axis. An example of our extraordinarily tight tube bending is a 16 x 8 x ½ bent the easy way to an 11 ft. inside radius.
